Rats?

Our breeder rat Velvet had babies on the 18th. But some of them looked bad to begin with and didn't move or cry much. I finally got to see inside her nest, and it's empty, meaning she ate them all. Don't be alarmed, this is natural when they are sick or die. But I mean, all of them? She had a big litter last time, her first, but what could have caused something so bad to happen this time? I think it's because we moved her the week before she was due, seeing as they really only show the week before. And she gave birth early. So now we still don't have baby rats to feed to our snakes. There are frozen ones, but one of them still needs weened off live.
Another rat problem: We had three baby rats that are a couple months old. Two were females. They were all supposed to be girls, but there was a mix up and a sister replaced a brother in the freezer. Sad, yes, but that's how it's done. He was going to be eaten anyway so there wouldn't be inbreeding, but last night...I thought they were just playing or showing him they were in charge. Apparently Nibbles and Badger (girls) ganged up on Josep (not misspelled) and wounded him so bad he died sometime this morning. He even died looking like he was praying. I mean, I've heard of killer rats but, sheesh! So now I'm a little worried that they'll attack each other soon, so we're separating them. And I hope Velvet doesn't have something wrong with her.
